The 2007 update of the European Inventory produced by ECOTEC for the European Commission covers validation initiatives in 32 countries.
ECOTEC’s European inventory covers 32 countries individually:
| Austria | Greece | Norway |
| Belgium | Hungary | Poland |
| Bulgaria | Iceland | Portugal |
| Cyprus | Liechtenstein | Romania |
| Czech Republic | Lithuania | Slovakia |
| Denmark | Luxembourg | Slovenia |
| Estonia | Ireland | Spain |
| Finland | Italy | Sweden |
| France | Latvia | Netherlands |
| Germany | Malta | United Kingdom |
| Turkey | Croatia |
The European inventory does not aim to be a comprehensive list of existing validation initiatives. The inventory focuses on high-quality, cost-effective and, primarily, recent validation initiatives. It covers initiatives developed by public authorities, the private sector and third sector organisations. In addition to national chapters, the European Inventory 2007 has synthesis sections, sectoral compendia and a series of six case studies illustrating good practice on validation initiatives in Europe.
