ECOTEC’s Involvement in the Essex Building Schools for the Future (BSF) Programme
ECOTEC has contributed to the success of Skanska RM’s appointment as preferred bidder for Essex’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, a government scheme supporting major capital investment in England’s secondary schools.
ECOTEC’s role in helping Skanska to secure the £1.3 billion contract to rebuild and refurbish 80 schools in Essex included the
development of a Regeneration Charter, extensive consultation across the Castle Point, Basildon, and Chelmsford communities, and partnership brokerage with local and national stakeholders to identify relevant interventions.
ECOTEC also developed a number of innovative pilot projects relating to culture and sport, and employment creation within the low carbon economy, and advised Skanska on knowledge capture, dissemination and how to involve pupils in this process.
Skanska commented that "It was certainly the best and most comprehensive bid we've put together for a BSF scheme… The ECOTEC effort was excellent"
