Neighbourhood Planning: A new tool to shape local development
CLES/Ecorys Workshop @ CLES's Annual Summit, Manchester, 12-13th July 2011
The Localism Bill introduced an opportunity for communities to play an active role in determining the look and feel of development in their area through neighbourhood plans. CLES (Centre for Local and Economic Strategies) has teamed up with Ecorys UK, to make the 'Future City Game' available to communities and to help them make the most of the opportunity provided by neighbourhood planning.
As part of CLES’ annual summit (Manchester, 12-13th July 2011) we are running a workshop which will examine the details of the neighbourhood planning agenda and describe how communities can use the Future City Game as a tool to help identify priorities and make decisions for the benefit of their area. The Future City game is an innovative tool which you can use to engage with your community as part of the neighbourhood planning process. At a time when engagement can be difficult and when more emphasis is being place on working with communities to support neighbourhood planning, the Future City Game provides an interesting and stimulating approach to support community plan making.
