The implications of Coalition Government policies for cultural services in London.
Ecorys were commissioned by the London Cultural Improvement Group in February 2011 to explore the implications of Coalition Government policies for the local delivery of culture and leisure services that were potentially at risk following reductions in local government spending announced with the Localism Bill.
The study explored the changes in the policy landscape, including the expected widespread introduction of payment-by-results, deepening of commissioning, growing of alternative social financing mechanisms, and the changing role of philanthropy underpinning the Big Society agenda, and identified the steps the local authorities might take to access these opportunities and help place cultural and leisure services on a more sustainable financial platform.
Ecorys organized a conference in central London to launch the report in July 2011.
