Health & Social Care Volunteering Fund

Ecorys are contracted to the Department of Health to deliver the Health and Social Care Volunteering Fund (HSCVF). Ecorys is in partnership with Community Service Volunteers (CSV), Attend and PrimeTimers to deliver this 3 year contract.

The HSCVF was first introduced in 2009 following a strategic review of funding and investment to third sector organisations. Overall, the planned approach to the programme will support coherent investment, reinforce the role of volunteering in health, public health and social care and support the developing strategic vision for volunteering in health, public health and social care.

For 2011-12, the HSCVF committed £3.73m of which approx £2.05m was allocated to 13 new national awards and £483k was allocated to 51 new local projects; with the balance committed to funding and capacity building support for the local projects. Awards are generally for 3 years duration, although smaller projects may be of shorter term.

A key innovation of the fund is the support package on offer to small local organisations funded through the programme. The HSCVF support package is delivered by nationally recognised voluntary organisations. This package aims to build organisational capacity that will assist with longer term sustainability. Activities include: an organisational diagnostic visit; support consultancy; training in volunteer management; and accredited Action Learning Networks.
